Pollution in People Project

Body burden testing, or biomonitoring, has come into greatly increased use in the last several years, both by government bodies and private researchers. The Toxic-Free Legacy Coalition, led by the Washington Toxics Coalition, is using this technique to study the levels of toxic chemicals in ten Washingtonians.
  • The goal: find out the extent to which toxic chemicals are contaminating our bodies, from newborns to children to adults.
  • The method: take samples of blood, urine and hair and conduct highly specialized testing to determine the levels of toxic chemicals.

What Toxic Chemicals Did We Find in the Bodies of Washingtonians?
